Colombia June 5th-12th 2022

For the first time 3 Coffee Guys offered a trip which did not include any courses but instead a Coffee Tour. Over 6 days we traveled from Cali to Bogota stopping to visit 6 different plantations along the way.

DAY 1

Owner Andres Felipe Londoño is renowned for producing rare varieties and incredible quality coffees. In 2011 their Geisha was named “Coffee of the year” and in 2012 gained recognition by the Rainforest Alliance for superior environmental stewardship

Breakfast on Day 1 starts with the first time chance to meet everyone and the handing out of the goodies bags. Thanks to our sponsors Sanremo, Segafredo Select, Brita, Fiorenzato and Pulycaff.

You know when you arrive at the base and 2 Jeeps are waiting for you that it is going to be an amazing day! Andres Felipe was there to meet us and introduce us to MANANTIALES DEL FRONTINO. In 2011 their Geisha was named “Coffee of the year” and they haven’t looked back since.

The week could not have started better. The views were breathtaking and the tide was thrilling.

We spent the best part of the morning until the early afternoon driving around different areas and villages and really getting to understand the scope of the area.

A highlight for many people is the chance to taste a coffee cherry for the first time. Here Benji from Sanremo UK captures the moment. He later pronounced that it tastes a little “like an onion”.

A walk through the Geisha fields on our way to morning coffee break of fresh fruit and of course coffee

A large part of the farm is dedicated to natural forest and these guys have an incredible walk through the natural beauty.

Cupping Time!

No day will be complete with cupping

Day 2

A quick swim in the pool before breakfast and then off to visit Cofinet. 4th generation coffee growers- Cofinet has their own processing center in La Pradera. There the most exotic varieties are processed achieving unique profiles that are unknown for Colombian coffees.

Cofinet. A warm welcome and a beautiful homested

After the rain the covers on the drying beds were rolled back.

Different processing methods under way.

They are currently experimenting with new methods of processing, some may be considered a little controversial but the results are certainly interesting.

Cupping!

3 Different tables and 3 very different experiences.

Feeling the Colombia vibe.

Thanks to Cofinet for the great day.

DAY 3

Mauricio Shattah and la Finca la Negrita. WOW.
Wednesday 8th June.

Finca la Negrita by Maurizio Shattah has been the Finca of choice for many Barista champions over the years. We are fortunate enough to have this unique opportunity to visit and witness first hand what it takes to cultivate award winning coffees.

Mauricio Shattah is considered by many to be a genius in the world of coffee. He constantly produces specialty of incredible quality and you will need to order a couple of season in advance if you want some.

A clear sign that today was going to be special when this is the walk in towards the house.

We started the day by cupping as Mauricio explained that the power wasn’t so stable in the afternoon and it would be best to boil the water now while we could

Patrick and Damian declared this to be the two best tables they had every cupped. Ricardo agreed.

We promised adventure. The ascent to the top of the coffee growing was from 1600mt to 2100mt. These two old boys decided that they would need horses

If you look at this picture closely you may begin to comprehend the steepness of which this coffee plantation is situated.

Back in the base again. After a much deserved beer we were ready for group photos.

day 4

Farmer Omar Arango is a member of the Cafinorte Organico Coop and process his coffees at his own mill located on the grounds of the Finca San Luis. This farm is breathtakingly beautiful and the coffee truly special.

The welcome tour begins.

Jonas keeps a careful eye on the depulping in the wet mill.

Yellow Bourbon looking good.

Coffee fermentation with Kombucha!

Sometimes you just need to take time to look up and enjoy the nature.

It seemed only right to get caught in a bit of rain while in the plantations.

Meridiano hosted us for the cupping season

3 Coffee Guys and Omar Arango.

day 5

Felipe Sardi and Elisa Maria Madriñan believe in the power of nature and they are producing award winning coffees by relying on biodiversity, along with an intensive organic fertilization. La Palma y el Tucan approaches the coffee ecosystem through sustainable production, innovative processing and openess.

Welcome to la Palma y el Tucan. The most impressive area for guests ever seen on a coffee farm.

Bio diversity and many different animals on the farm too.

They help the other local coffee farmers to produce different crops that then provide extra income.

The organic fertilization is impressive

Benji couldn’t help himself. Latte art time at La Palma y el Tucan

Another group photo because we love it.

Thank you Felipe for allowing us to visit your amazing farm.

The cupping lab is situated in the middle of a Geisha lot and camouflaged with mirrors.

day 5

Our very first 3 Coffee Guys trip started here and they have made some incredible progress over the past few years. This farm symbolizes the incredible history and innovation in the Colombia coffee culture.

Misiones is a plantation with a story to tell. It dates back to the 19th century and was once so big they had their own currency

Our icon group photo from in front of the where the coffee is brought in by the donkeys

The reason behind it all.

The two Saudi brothers had smiles that got bigger over the week.

Perfectly ripe cherries being thoroughly washed before processing.

When Italy and the UK are forced to room together and work together amazing things can happen…. and trouble

The homestead has been recently renovated and is part museum.

Caught in the rain just before harvesting time.

The first stage of the coffee transformation. From here the journey has only just begun.

The weary pickers after 1/2 of hard work!

As always the 3 Coffee guys are there to welcome you and make sure that every trip is memorable.
